Most people tell me this before their shoot. You do not need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. I will give you direction when you need it and keep things moving so it feels relaxed rather than like you are standing around performing for the camera.

There are loads of beautiful options around Wanaka & Queenstown depending on what you are after. I will help you choose somewhere that suits you, the season, the weather and who is coming along.

The hours around sunrise and sunset usually give us the nicest light, but it depends on the season and location. If you have young kids coming along, we can also work around sleep and dinner times rather than planning the perfect light and ending up with a very unhappy toddler.

You definitely do not need to match, but natural colours and soft, neutral tones usually work best together and suit the Wanaka landscape beautifully. I recommend avoiding big logos, bold patterns and anything too distracting, and choosing clothes with textures and layers that feel like you. Wanaka weather can change pretty quickly, so I will keep an eye on the forecast before your session. Perfect weather cannot be guaranteed, and clouds, a little wind or even some moody skies can still make for beautiful photographs. I always recommend keeping some flexibility around your session where possible, so we have the best chance of finding a good weather window.
