I met Laura and Tobi while capturing their engagement during my time in Europe last year. When they reached out to me to photograph their destination wedding in Austria this year, it was an immediate YES for me. Escaping the New Zealand winter to spend those months back in Europe is always a delight, and swapping my usual New Zealand backdrops for their mountain wedding in Austria was an exciting change.

We got inspired to remove ourselves from our day-to-day surroundings of the mountains & lakes of Wanaka, and swapped it out for some Southland scenes in a unique scenario. With some of our favourite vendors & gal pals (and George) in the industry, we pulled our efforts together to create something different from the usual.

These two have been together for 30 years and only decided a few months ago that they finally wanted to get married. With all of their family coming to New Zealand for a big reunion anyway, they made it all happen pretty quickly. I remember how excited I was when they called me to ask if I would consider capturing this special day for them. A love story that spans continents, brought together by airplanes and a whole lot of love. I had the privilege of capturing the incredible moments of an intimate destination wedding in Wanaka for an American private flight attendant and an Aussie pilot. They met while working in the skies and did the long-distance thing until she made the big move to Australia. They decided to tie the knot on the 5th of October, which matches up with the American version of the 10th of May—the date she got her residency granted in Oz.
